CloudCrest

Privacy policy

CloudCrest is a static site that collects as little as possible. Here's exactly what that means for your data, including how our Google Analytics works and how to switch it off.

CloudCrest is a static website that collects as little personal data as possible. We don't run user accounts, we don't sell data, and we don't ask you to log in. This page explains the few places data is involved so there are no surprises.

What we collect

We collect only what's needed to run the site and understand which guides are useful. That means Google Analytics 4 (covered in detail below) and standard server logs kept by our hosting for security and reliability. If you email us or subscribe to pricing alerts, we keep the address you provide solely to reply or to send what you asked for, and nothing else.

Google Analytics 4

To see which guides are useful, CloudCrest runs Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd. It measures pages viewed, the referring site, approximate location at city or country level, device and browser type, and session timing. Google Analytics 4 doesn't log or store IP addresses. With advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation all off, the data isn't used for advertising — and it's never sold.

Where you are decides how it starts. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, a banner asks first and nothing is sent to Google unless you click Accept. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and you can switch it off at any time. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat you as opted out. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key analytics-consent, not in a cookie.

Want to change it? Cookie settings reopens the banner. Google's own terms are in Google's privacy policy, and Google's opt-out add-on stops Google Analytics in your browser everywhere.

CloudCrest's own cookies are the two Google Analytics ones, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to 2 years and are set only after analytics is allowed. When you click an affiliate link to a host, that host or its affiliate network may set a cookie on its own site to attribute a possible sign-up to us — that's how the commission that funds this site is tracked, and it happens on their domain under their privacy policy, not ours. You can browse CloudCrest without clicking any affiliate link. For how those links work, see our affiliate disclosure.

Your choices

You can switch analytics off from the cookie settings link, block cookies in your browser, use tracking protection, and unsubscribe from any email at any time using the link in it. If you'd like us to delete an email address you've shared with us, email [email protected] and we'll remove it. If we ever change this policy, the updated version will appear on this page.
